Producer - Technical Excellence Award In its simplest form, concrete is a mixture of cement, water, and aggregate. Yet these ingredients play a huge role in influencing the engineering outcome.
The production controls required in the manufacture of concrete masonry and precast concrete components as well as the processing of reinforcing steel demand a similar level of expertise.
This award recognises a producer’s knowledge and capability as being key to the delivery of innovative technical solutions.
The 2023 recipient of this award was Firth Industries for the Central Interceptor low viscosity annulus grout supply.

Producer - Extra Distance Award “There are no traffic jams along the extra mile” is an expression that captures the focus of this award, which places a premium on a producer’s uncompromising commitment to customer satisfaction.
Providing a level of service that ensures clients get exactly what they need, when they need it and to the highest standard, requires a dedicated approach to ready mixed concrete, precast or masonry production and delivery.
The producer’s expert knowledge ensures that the customer’s wants are what they really need, while their project management skills make sure things get done on time and within budget to enable a quality outcome.
The 2023 recipient of this award was Higgins Concrete for the Turitea Wind Farm, Tararua Ranges near Palmerston North.

Diversity & Inclusion Award Diversity is the presence of difference within a given setting. Respecting and valuing the skills and uniqueness of individuals underpins workplace diversity.
Inclusion relates to individuals with different identities feeling and/or being valued, leveraged, and welcomed within a given setting such as the workplace.
By creating diverse teams and focusing on real inclusion, individuals are encouraged to contribute their thoughts fearlessly. This drives innovation and fosters connections, which yields results.
This award recognises those organisations that have made a genuine commitment to advance their culture through initiatives that embrace this strategic priority.
Allied Concrete took home this award in 2023 for its range of diversity and inclusion initiatives, including the “Get a Haircut” campaign.

Health, Safety & Wellbeing Achievement Award The Health & Safety at Work Act came into force in April 2016, placing a greater accountability for businesses and individuals, and a greater requirement for everyone on-site, to work
together to stay safe.
Reviewing for continuous improvement, identifying and assessing risks, eliminating or minimising risks and monitoring control measures lie at the core of sound health, safety & wellbeing practice.
This award acknowledges organisations and individuals who have improved practices across this critical area of the construction sector.
The recipient of this award in 2023 was Higgins Concrete for its Golden Rules Programme.

Carbon Reduction Award A review by independent sustainability consultancy thinkstep-anz recently confirmed that the New Zealand concrete industry reduced its emissions from cement by 15 percent between 2005 and 2018.
Subsequently, the industry has released its 2050 decarbonisation Roadmap, which sets out a plan for emissions reduction and in turn how industry will play a major role in building the sustainable world of tomorrow.
This award acknowledges those that have undertaken initiatives to reduce their carbon footprint, and in turn help the concrete industry achieve its 2030 and 2050 objectives.
In 2023 the Carbon Reduction Award went to Holcim New Zealand for its low carbon cement replacement facility & verified carbon model.
